Félix Laubi (ON 2020) was a beacon of inspiration, known for his positive and indefatigable spirit. Tragically, Félix passed away in 2024 to a rare form of cancer. With the consent of his family and with your support, a new prize will be initiated in Félix’s honour, awarded to a student in Year 10 who demonstrates outstanding leadership in their pursuit of excellence, be it in academics, sports, in service, or the arts.
As a student leader, Félix captained both Moulton House and the Newington Challenge, demonstrating his ability to inspire and guide his peers. Félix lived his parents’ values; he consistently demonstrated empathy, compassion, and curiosity throughout his brief and inspirational life. He was an outstanding sportsman, he excelled academically, and was not afraid of hard work.
Fiercely loyal and dedicated, Félix loved Newington and our community with a passion that was infectious. His commitment to the arts was evident through his participation in College musicals, plays, orchestral performances, and concerto competitions.
He was wise beyond his years and always full of life. His community spirit shone brightly as he engaged in fundraising activities, reflecting his compassionate nature. Even whilst undergoing treatment for cancer, Félix's determination never wavered; he participated in the Husky Triathlon and raised nearly $60,000 for charity, a testament to his extraordinary resilience.
Félix's legacy at Newington College is a powerful reminder of the impact one individual can have on a community, and The Félix Laubi (ON 2020) Prize for Outstanding Commitment, Dedication and Humanity is a tribute to his remarkable journey and achievements.
