Help us raise
$50k to send
tools to Tupou

Tupou College is in need for tools for their new workshop. With your help we can fund tools and hardware for training in construction, carpentry, automotive, electrical, and hospitality.

Tupou College recently celebrated its 160th anniversary with the opening of a modern Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre. This new facility, funded by the Australian Government, is a milestone for students in Tonga, giving them hands‑on training in construction, carpentry, automotive, electrical, and hospitality studies. Today, the TVET is an empty shell.

Newington and Tupou College share a history that spans 160 years. Generations of exchanges, scholarships and shared learning have shaped a deep bond between our communities.

We invite you to play a part in the next chapter by helping us purchase the essential tools and hardware needed to bring the new workshops fully to life. Your gift will help us purchase items such as carpentry tool kits, electrical training boards, automotive tools, and safe workshop and hospitality equipment will directly support students as they build skills for future employment.

Every contribution, large or small, makes a very real difference. When you give, you are helping young Tongans gain practical skills, confidence and opportunity. You are strengthening our shared history between Newington and Tupou and giving hope.

Thank you for helping equip the next generation of Tupou College students.

Power tools

  • circular saw, reciprocating saw, sliding compound saw, jigsaws, angle grinders,  planer, routers, drills, rotary hammer drills, impact drivers, nail guns, bench grinder, extension leads, a portable residual current device, air compressor and hoses, and a pneumatic staple gun.

What happens next?

Newington College will purchase equipment here in Australia and send via a shipping container that will leave Newington in early April. It is hoped that the shipping container will arrive in June to coincide with Newington College Year 9 students who visit Tonga during term break. At that time, we will provide proactical support to Tupou College students and staff on safe and effective use of the tools.
