To celebrate fifty years of the Newington Foundation, valued supporters and friends gathered for a Private viewing of the Archibald Prize. Deputy Director of the AGNSW, and future Newington parent, Maud Page, gave behind-the-scenes insights into Australia’s most talked about and often controversial art prize. Maud was in conversation with Helen Burton, recipient of the 2019 Newington citation, who has been instrumental in Newington Artist's in Residence program since its establishment in 2014. Their insightful and informative conversation also touched on the importance of visual arts for our students and Newington's connection with the Archies, including Old Newingtonians who have been the subject of portraits or been Archies finalists.
