On 18 November, the Newington Foundation hosted its annual Thank You Cocktail Party, a cherished occasion to express our gratitude to the generous supporters who make a lasting impact on the lives of Newington College students.
Held at Wyvern House, the evening brought together donors, Old Newingtonians, parents, grandparents, and friends of the College for an elegant celebration of gratitude and community spirit. Guests enjoyed fine wines, sparkling beverages, and gourmet canapés while reconnecting with familiar faces and forging new friendships.
Guests arrived, welcomed by Senior and Prep School Student Leaders and the warm notes of the Senior Jazz Ensemble, with thanks to Orson B, Tristan H, Jacob L, and Sonny I.
Highlights of the Evening
- Musical Performance: Zion L (Year 3) captivated the audience with a stunning rendition of Robert Schumann’s Intermezzo from Carnival in Vienna, earning a rousing applause.
- Impact Story: Kupu M (Year 11), recipient of The Jean and Jim Millner Scholarship, shared an emotional and inspiring journey from Tonga to Stanmore. In his heartfelt speech, he said:
“Every time I get asked what I’m grateful for, my answer will always be the opportunity I received to attend Newington. When I walk through the gates, I look around and realize how blessed I am… I am proud to say that I’m a proud Newingtonian and will be forever grateful.” - Acknowledging Giving: Headmaster Michael Parker warmly thanked attendees for their unwavering commitment to advancing educational opportunities for Newington students.
- Looking Ahead: Foundation Chair Phil Moffitt (ON 1982) highlighted a record year of grants from the Foundation to the College and shared exciting plans for future initiatives.
The Thank You Cocktail Party is more than a social gathering - it is a testament to the power of community and shared vision. Every contribution, large or small, helps ensure that Newington College continues to provide exceptional learning experiences for generations to come.
